- On Monday, I hope for us to be able to visit the Helfaer Theater performance space. What do you expect a standard theatrical/dramatic performance space to look like? Be as specific as possible. If you have ever seen a theatrical/dramatic performance in something other than a standard performance space, describe the differences and the impact that those differences had on the performance. NOTE: if answering this after our visit to Helfaer's Mainstage theater, discuss how this theater space was alike or differed from your expectations.
- What would be the ideal performance space in which to stage Fifteen Strings of Cash? What about How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying? Could each work equally well in the ideal performance space for the other? Or does one or the other really need a specific kind of performance space? NOTE: if answering this after our visit to Helfaer's Mainstage theater, discuss how each might work in that performance space.
- Film versions of both Fifteen Strings of Cash and How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying exist: so what place might there still be for staged version of productions like these in the overall cultural ecosystem? Any space for staging a live theatrical/dramatic performance is obviously more limited than the nearly infinite locations available, shot-to-shot, to a filmmaker. But what advantages might be provided by those very limitations? (In other words, why would anyone ever choose to make a play rather than a movie, and not despite the limitations, but because of them?)
